Register your feedback here. Always good to hear from you! I can’t believe I haven’t done a “Construction” episode already. The Bible is full of metaphors about builders and building, and lessons for us abound. Today we’ll discuss the biggest construction project of your life and whether you should even start it; the blame that gets shifted, even toward Jesus, when the project goes wrong; the woes of dealing with poorly conceived and poorly executed projects; and the best Bible-themed game I have ever played – maybe the best game, period. Register your feedback here. Always good to hear from you! I will be taking a month off from the podcast starting next week. I thought the timing was good to discuss the blessings and dangers of taking a step back. This week we’ll discuss God’s approach to rest and how it can benefit us; the insights of various presidents regarding the work they did and how they responded when it ended; the ways you can help me make the most out of my time away from the microphone; and the most stressful and enjoyable Sabbath I ever spent at the board game table. The 70 years of Exile are over. The remnant returns to a city in ruins. Together, Ezra and Nehemiah mobilize the people to rebuild the temple and walls of Jerusalem amidst relentless opposition. Meanwhile, Esther providentially rises to power as Queen of Persia to rescue her people from annihilation. These are action-packed books, but how do they point us to God's plan to save us through Jesus? Register your feedback here. Always good to hear from you! I’ve been preaching … about “last words” speeches in the Bible. It may not be important to make them count, but you might as well try. I’ve been reading … Nehemiah. At the end of the work, we will be remembered for something. Let it be for good. I’ve been hearing … a new preacher will carry on after we have gone. And really, it makes a lot less difference than you might think. I’ve been playing … Amerigo. A new world means new challenges and opportunities. Predictability can be nice, but it’s probably overrated. Check out Hal on YouTub
