Send us Fan Mail This week Kylie and I participated in the Passion WOD at CrossFit. 100 double-unders. 800m 95/65# barbell carry. 100 burpees. It was designed to remind us of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. It was a hard workout, but moreso because of how emotional it was. Do we really understand just how much Jesus suffered for us? Today we explore the details of scourging, the carrying of the cross, and how excruciating crucifixion was. I hope it serves to remind us of how great God's love is, and how much Jesus was willing to endure for you and me. #SetYourMindAbovePodcast

Send us Fan Mail A had the most horrid sound coming from my car, and after googling the car's symptoms I began to be worried it was going to be a huge fix. Turns out $40 it was something very small, literally. I guess that's the way it goes, usually the things we worry about don't ever happen. Jesus teaches us not to worry, to not be anxious. Usually, the thing's were anxious about aren't important anyways. Jesus promises he knows our needs and will meet them, and we can't fix anything through worry. We need to trust him, seek his kingdom first, and know he'll work out the rest. #SetYourMindAb

Send us Fan Mail We have had an incredible amount of rain from the storms, which is good considering we just planted 150 trees on the farm. That's quite the process - you have to prepare the soil, firmly ground it, and make sure it's oriented properly - pointed in the right direction. As a matter of fact, this is the exact process we must go through in teaching others the gospel. Send us Fan Mail I recently had a conversation with a friend who helps to run a memory care facility. She told me that while some days are very hard for residents, the blessing of such a difficult disease is that the next day they have no memory of what happened before that made them so miserable or angry. Each day is a reset, a new day. Forgiveness works much the same way, doesn't it? When God forgives us, that's it. It's done with, it's over, and his mercies are new each and every day. He will not be angry forever - because when God forgives us, he removes our sin entirely as far as the east

Send us Fan Mail Our youngest has another double ear infection, and it came on fast. There was no warning, and suddenly she was miserable. As I held her tonight, I sat and watched my ice melt in my glass - it was slow, and it was subtle. What a contrast. We need to remember that spiritual growth and spiritual deterioration are not like an infection - neither happen overnight or are sudden. They are like watching ice melt. Send us Fan Mail We got a big snow dump again, and the kids wanted to go outside and play in it. This was the best kind of snow, the kind that packs tight so you can make snowballs and snowmen. The kids asked me to teach them how, and I explained you have to apply pressure and press the snow in your hands - that's what makes it stronger. Life works the same way with our faith. We've got to recognize that difficulties are not necessarily something to be avoided, they have the potential to test our faith and make us stronger. Sometimes a little pressure is what keeps you from falling to pieces.

Send us Fan Mail I recently started drinking Mushroom Coffee, and it is as bad as you can imagine. It's hard to swallow. I thought about just quiting, but I decided to try and doctor it up with oatmilk and honey and found that is much more enjoyable. I don't taste the rougher things anymore. Sadly, many people treat Jesus this way. They don't like his teachings that are hard to swallow, so they just abandon him. Or, for others, they preach a Jesus that's doctored up the way that they want and that they like. But that's not what leads to life. We have to take him exactly as he is. #SetYourMindA

At first, our kids were pretty upset about no power and no tv/internet. But once they learned that that other people were losing their entire homes and communites, that was no longer important. They needed some perspective. I think we all do. We can be so entitled, ungrateful, and complain about everything.
