Psalm 2 vs. 1-3 The nations plot rebellion against God vs. 4-6 The LORD scoffs at the nations who seek to defy Him vs. 7-9 The LORD's King will rule all nations with a rod of iron vs. 10-12 Resistance is futile and the only option is surrender to God verse 7 is applied to the baptism of Jesus- Matthew 3:16-17 - and transfiguration- Matthew 17:1-5. It is applied to the resurrection of Jesus - Acts 13:33. See also Hebrews 1:5; 5:5. vs. 9 is applied to Jesus in Revelation 12:5; 19:15 and to Christians in Revelation 2:26-27.
